Far Cry Primal: Socializing in Oros
Warning: Spoilers
This isn’t what
one would call a “frictionless” tour through the countryside but
I have been enjoying the journey. The challenges are an incentive to
constantly upgrade. Thanks to the Steam controller, I finally got
frustrated. I ran into the ludicrous Urki, a man way, way before his
time. He sent me on the first of his ill fated missions. I needed to
collect materials that he believed would enable him to fly. I could
not for the life of me take out a raven for it’s feathers even
though I had detected their tendency to briefly settle on nearby
rocks. I only succeeded once I finally thought of trying the
keyboard. Thanks to aim assist I haven’t been that troubled by
sensitivity issues on the right track pad so I haven’t bothered to
fiddle with it. His next missions were just as stupid. The second one
went fine but I managed to bug the third one out. I was supposed to
collect honeycomb from bee hives which was a new twist. So I shot the
damn thing and once I returned from my angry bee escape, I discovered
that the honeycomb had disintegrated I guess and had to start over.
It was a minor setback though and as amusing as Urki is I was glad to
leave him moaning and groaning for the last time.
Otherwise, I have
been exploring and clearing off village missions, hunting and
gathering along the way. I got to tame the terrifying beast from the
game’s introduction and it still terrifies me even under my
command. Mammoths are one of the few creatures it doesn’t
automatically drive off so we just creep around those. Some
paleolithic hunter I am.
Back at the village,
I noticed a kid throwing rocks in the river. I hung out with him for
a while but the most interesting thing he did was eat grubs from
underneath a huge rock. This seems to be a favourite kid pastime.
Then I was inspired to head out into the wilds and hang out with some
Wenja buddies to see what they do with their day. Turns out they get
into fights and die a lot. After a number of futile attempts at
keeping them all alive I gave up in horror resolving to just stick
with the achievable missions dotted all over the map. I have
collected all the village specialists now but my favourite is still
the obsessive warrior Karoosh. Now that we have completed his
missions he’s back at the village calmly flint knapping or
something. I have caused village controversy with my latest recruits
but I am Beast Master, I have a sabre tooth. Back off! Which they
did. I am almost ready for end game.
